Meet Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan, proud brainparents of method and the very first people against dirty™. Despite founding one of the fastest-growing private companies in America, and single-handedly turning the consumer-packaged-goods industry on its head, these two former roommates are quick to tell you that they're no heroes. And that's true. They're SUPER-heroes.* And like every great superhero, they gained their powers after being exposed to toxic material. Cleaning supplies, to be precise. But rather than turning them green or granting them the ability to talk to fish, Eric and Adam's toxic exposure gave them something even better. An idea.
Eric knew people wanted cleaning products they didn't have to hide under their sinks. And Adam knew how to make them without any nasty toxic ingredients. Their powers combined, they set out to save the world and create an entire line of home care products that were more powerful than a bottle of sodium hypochlorite. Gentler than a thousand puppy licks. Able to detox tall homes in a single afternoon.

Eric Ryan, the architect of the method brand, brings experience and enthusiasm for building consumer and retail concepts. Eric spent over seven years in advertising, trend-spotting and brand positioning for high-end consumer brands including Gap, Old Navy and Saturn. By fusing his knowledge of fashion and design, he has invented a modern and stylish line of cleaning products that are quickly finding their way to becoming permanent fixtures in homes around the world.

Adam Lowry, who began his career in product design by inventing two United States patent-pending products for use in the automotive industry, has now developed an innovative set of formulas for household surface cleaners. Adam's "cocktail approach" has transformed the chore of cleaning into a safe, easy and more satisfying experience.
At method, we call ourselves "people against dirty." And by "dirty," we don't just mean the stuff dust bunnies are made of. method isn't only about cleaning up your home or your body; it's about cleaning up the way we clean.
You may not know it, but if you're using typical household cleaners or common personal care products, you could be messing around with dangerous chemicals. Chemicals that aren't just bad for your home and the environment, but for you and your family as well.
So what can you do about it? You can change. You can take a good hard look at the way you're cleaning, and see that harsh chemicals and toxins have no place in your home, no place in your body and no place in your cleaning products.
This is where method comes in – we see a world where toxic chemicals aren't needed to get your home sparkly clean. Our entire line of home care and personal care products are non-toxic, made with naturally derived, biodegradable ingredients that clean like heck and smell like heaven.
Of course, smelling like heaven shouldn't cost the earth. At method, we're in business to change business. In the same way we take the dirt out of cleaning, we strive to eliminate some of business's dirty practices. We offset carbon emissions by planting forests and by buying electricity from renewable sources like solar and wind energy – not perfect solutions, but important steps in the right direction. We design our products to meet the environmental design standard of Cradle to Cradle. We make recyclable bottles from 100% recycled plastic – karmic packaging, if you will. And we use natural materials like bamboo, corn and coconut oil in our products and packaging.
At method, we're happy about what we do. Sometimes we're even a little giddy. But when it comes to the effectiveness of our products, we're dead serious. They work. How could we be happy if they didn't? Our cleaners are powerful formulas made with naturally derived surfactants that work by absorbing dirt rather than chemically degrading it. Our greenskeeping team (aka environmental scientists and toxicologists), ensures that our products are not only highly innovative, but also highly effective.
Cleaning can be a chore, but dangerous chemicals and toxins can make it a real pain. Stinging eyes, burning lungs and headaches aren't just unfortunate side effects of a well-kept home. They're warning signs. That's your body telling you, "Don't use this. This is bad for you." That's why method's entire product line is both people- and pet-friendly, specially formulated to put the hurt on dirt without harming a hair on you or your loved ones' heads.
If you want to clean up the environment, start with your own. Our cleaning formulas contain biodegradable ingredients derived from natural materials like soy, coconut and palm oils. Our packaging is made from the most readily recyclable materials. Our CO2 emissions from employee commute and travel are offset with carbon credits and the energy used in our manufacturing sites and our office is from renewable energy credits. And our products are never tested on animals. Because we believe guinea pigs should never be used.
Most companies treat product design like it ain't no thang. At method, we believe product design is a thang. It's very much a thang. So when we were figuring out how to package our products, we enlisted world-renowned designer Joshua Handy to sculpt some of the finest pieces of recyclable plastic art this side of MoMA. Form, meet function. Function, form. You two play nice.
Some companies might think that ammonia or bleach is the fragrance of clean. At method, we're for flowers. Also fruit. Maybe an herb here or there. We've noticed that some home products lead to rapid breath-holding and window-opening. But no one holds their breath while slicing a grapefruit. So we'll stick with that.
