our cruelty-free mission

as you may know, method is no longer an only child. we have a sister brand, Ecover (Europe’s largest green cleaning company), who we joined forces with in 2012 to create our new global family, people against dirty.

at people against dirty, we believe business should be a force for good – that’s why both method and Ecover are certified Benefit Corporations. we make cleaning products with a conscience, building social and environmental benefits into everything we do.

over the last few years, we’ve been working hard to align our brands. today we’re excited to share the latest mission we’ve been shaping: a global commitment to never test on animals – from whales to water fleas. while method and Ecover have always been cruelty-free brands, Ecover—as a European company—was required by law to test on daphnia (aka water fleas) when developing new eco-friendly ingredients.

that didn’t feel true to who we are as cruelty-free company and we know many of you felt the same. so we’re choosing to evolve how we approach innovation in Europe. we’re committed to pioneering the future, but only in ways that don’t require us to conduct daphnia testing. we also won’t be selling our hand or body washes in China (where animal testing is required on certain types of personal care products) until we have a way to make them available that aligns with our cruelty-free mission.

we’re proud to be holding our brands to the highest global standard of what it means to be cruelty-free. visit Leaping Bunny and Cruelty Free International to learn more about our certifications and stay tuned for more news from people against dirty as we continue on our journey to make the world a cleaner, greener place.
