5 WAYS TO DITCH WINTER DRYNESS

winter weather can be rough on your skin. here are a few tips to help you stay soft, smooth + supple all season long.

1. MOISTURIZE LIKE YOU MEAN IT

the best way to beat winter dryness is to moisturize. if your skin is extra dry, you can even do it twice a day. try to avoid heavy creams that don’t absorb easily and soaps with harsh ingredients that can strip away moisture. of course, we recommend our nourishing hand wash formulated with a special hydrating complex + nutrient-rich botanicals. just call it hands’ best friend.

2. GO EASY ON EXFOLIATING

you shed thousands of dead skin cells every day. that’s (mostly) a good thing. except for the fact that those cells can build up on the skin’s surface, forming a layer that makes it hard for moisturizers to, well, moisturize. a little exfoliation goes a long way. just remember that more than two exfoliating sessions a week can make skin even drier.

3. MISS THE SUN, NOT THE SUNSCREEN

the weather outside is frightful. and so is sun damage. that’s why skipping sunscreen even during winter months is a big no-no. as you prepare to brave the elements, cover up with some SPF before you grab your scarf, mittens and overcoat. earmuffs are optional.

4. BEWARE OF HOT AIR

it’s not just the winter cold that dries out your skin, it’s also the dry, hot air you use to keep your home nice and toasty. so if you plan to crank up the heat, make sure to turn on a humidifier. it will help replace the moisture lost in the warm air and keep your skin feeling less lizard-like.

5. SHOWER WITHOUT STRIPPING

if that body wash you lather up with is full of harsh additives, it can strip moisture from your skin. we recommend using a rich, hydrating product instead.
